Recommended for medium to heavy bleeders

Stonesoup Pratham is medium soft, ideal for most women. It is recommended for medium to heavy bleeders with moderate to high activity levels.

How to Use

Step 1: Fold
Fold Option 1 U Fold: Press the sides of the cup together and then fold it in half again forming a tight U shape.
Fold Option 2 Push Down: Place a finger on the top rim of the cup and press it down into the centre of the inside base to form a triangle. This makes the top rim much smaller to insert.

Step 2: Hold
Hold the folded sides firmly in place between your thumb and forefinger so that the curved edge is facing away from your palm.

Step 3: Insert
In a comfortable position (like squatting) and with your vaginal muscles relaxed, gently separate the labia with your free hand and then push the curved edge of the folded Stonesoup Fuchsia horizontally into the vaginal opening so that the bottom of the cup is about a 1/2 inch into the vagina.

Step 4: Removal
To remove, insert your thumb and forefinger into your vagina until you can reach the base of the cup. Pinch the base of the cup to release the seal and continue to pull down to remove it. After the cup has been removed, empty the contents in the toilet, wash the cup well with warm water and a mild soap, and reinsert.

When to Empty
Stonesoup Fuchsia cup must be emptied, washed and reinserted at least 2 times a day (twice in a 24 hour period) and can be worn overnight without concern of leaking. Most women need only to empty it in the morning and again in the evening. For women with heavier flow, it is recommended to empty more frequently to avoid leakage.

Cup Care
In between cycles, sterilise the cup by dipping in hot water or drying in the sun.

FAQs on menstrual cups:

1.Is it safe to insert a cup?

Cups are made of medical grade silicon which is an inert material and does not cause any reaction in contact with the skin.

Tip: look for a good brand with good user ratings to eliminate inferior quality products.

2. How do I know that my cup is full and that i have to empty it?

Each user has to empty her cup depending on her flow. Heavy flow needs more frequent emptying. As the user gets used to the cup, she can perfectly gauge when her cup is full just like we knew when to change the pad. It is an instinct that cannot go wrong.

3. Does the cup leak?

The cup leaks only in the event that it is full or when it is not inserted properly. When inserted correctly, the lip of the cup forms a vacuum after insertion and prevents any leakage.

4. Will the cup go deep inside my body? So deep that I cant get it out!

It is impossible for the cup to get lost inside your body. Women with high cervix may sometimes not locate the cup immediately. In this case, relax your breathing, sit in a squatting position and try and push the cup out in the same way you would when you pass motion. The cup slides down easily. Panic causes your muscles to contract making it difficult for the cup to slide down. Once you get used to the cup the chances of such an experience is nil.

5. Can I use the cup if I have an IUD (Intrauterine Device/ Copper T)

It is perfectly safe to use a cup if you have an IUD but please consult your Gynecologist before you do.

6. Can I use a cup instead of maternity pads?

Your vagina might be swollen and bruised post delivery so it is advisable not to use cups at this time. Wait for a few days and then you can resume using the cup.

7. Can I exercise and swim with a cup?

Yes you can. Cups are so comfortable that many women who are into exercising and sports are increasingly switching to cups. Pads chaff and shift whereas a cup stays inside safely without shifting or chaffing issues.

8. How do I clean my cup?

You can sterilise your cup before and after every cycle by immersing the cup in boiling water or you could wash the cup thoroughly with hot water while you shower. Make sure that you do not use strong soap to wash your cup as remnants of soap can cause a yeast infection. You could use mild soaps or the feminine hygiene soaps if needed.

9. Can young girls use the cup?

While it is perfectly safe to use the cup, many people dont approve of insertion at such a young age. Take a conscious decision after consulting with your gynaecologist.
