Your Impact

Traditionally, all idols were made using eco-friendly, locally available materials such as mud and clay. However, with time, materials like PoP and plastic began to be used which made the diols lighter and easier to transport. PoP idols may have some advantages but when it comes to the environment, they're a curse and environmental activists and governments have been struggling to ban them. PoP is not a biodegradable material, and when diols are immersed in water bodies, they remain intact for months. Once it does break down, PoP forms an impermeable layer on the bottom of ponds or lakes turning the water cloudy and increases the hardness of the water. There is also a steep rise in the concentration of heavy metals, dissolved solids, and acid content, and a drop in dissolved oxygen, which kills aquatic animals and plants. What's more, the floating idols later get stuck in waterworks installations, drains, intake wells and so on increasing chances of floods.

This tiny clay will dissolve in water within minutes !. It can be placed alongside a larger permanent idol during worship. Made by farmers in Kolhapur this idol also brings them an additional income.

Why We Like It

We love how this idol allows you to have an eco-friendly celebration without polluting the earth and harming water bodies and the life they sustain. It also makes for a thoughtful and eco-friendly Ganesh Chaturthi gift! Surely one the remover of obstacles will appreciate!

Serene Says
